There are 3 main dances in Latin (Rythm) they are:

 

Swing: There are 2 versions of the swing East and West coast. This dance is the only American dance used in ballroom completion. This dance is characterized by 3 fast steps to the right and 3 to the left followed by a rock step backward.

Rumba: The Rumba is a slow sensual dance. This dance is characterized by a Quick, Quick, Slooow. Some even call this the dance of seduction.

Cha Cha: The Cha Cha is a fun sassy dance. This dance is characterized by Rock step back(for the man), three steps to the left side (cha, cha, cha) followed by a rock step forward. A lot of music today has a Cha Cha beat.
